In anticipation of the French release of the Science-Fiction thriller Tron, Les Ateliers Ruby has mocked up an exclusive motorcycle helmet which takes its visceral cues from the film. Ruby is no stranger to pop-art helmets and this one comes complete with Tron stylings on the exterior and a navy blue palette on the interior with a matching navy strap to boot. Look out for this helmet to drop during the month of January in concert with the film’s French release. No word on pricing, but it will be available at colette.

Spread the word.

For some reason or another yesterday, I spent a good part of the day looking further into QR Codes; and after lots of reading, I decided that I should create one for this very page and try to spread the word via QR around my hometown.
Ideally, I want to get some stickers printed up with the QR on them and go around and put them up in [somewhat] arbitrary places and see if anything develops from it...a social experiment as it were. And for those that might want to help spread the word, you can always do the same...hell, make a stencil and spray it up on a graff wall, why not? lol. But anyhow, I just kinda of felt like sharing my new love for QR Codes with those who read this...hopefully the word will spread about this little corner of the 'net.

From the Platform: Subway Graffiti, 1983-1989

Here we have an upcoming book based around a subject which has always held my interest, particularly within the recent year or so: graffiti. I always wished I was one of those brave graff artists/taggers (like some of my friends were back in their day) who would risk getting caught by the cops and go out and bomb on walls and trains and all manner of surface...but alas, I never had the courage to get involved in such things. I attribute some of it to the fact that I've never felt I could do and draw some of the amazing things these people could do, although I never tried, so that could also be a contributing factor. Regardless of which though, I love it when books of this nature come out as it allows me to live empirically through the many talented people who's work makes up this book. As a fan of the medium, I just want to give them all my thanks.

More Info:
“From the Platform” is the latest publication to offer a nostalgic review of graffiti in New York. Put together by graffiti writer Paul Cavalieri (who was able to take a wide array of photographs after having learnt much of the Subway timetable), the book stands out from the crown because it concentrates solely on Subway art, created between the mid to late 80’s. Hailed as a golden era of street art, the compilation actually draws from subway graffiti from 1983-1989 when the MTA announced that its fleet was entirely graffiti-free. The book boasts from than 325 color photos across 177 pages and is now available to pre-order from Amazon, with a full release expected in February 2011.

Dazed & Confused “ENCORE” Issue featuring Daft Punk

Well, I'm not a proponent of 3D in the slightest but even that can't stop me from going on the hunt for the upcoming Dazed and Confused issue with the Daft Punk feature. Anyone who knows me even a little probably knows that I LOVE Daft Punk, so if anyone out there knows of a good book store in Miami that has a copy of this, just give me a shout.

Info:
Marking the forthcoming release of the highly anticipated film “TRON: LEGACY”, electro-pop outfit Daft Punk recently starred in this photoshoot for Dazed and Confused magazine. Shot to be viewed in three-dimensions, the piece embraces the technological advancements showcased throughout the motion picture. Captured in Los Angeles by photographer Sharif Hamza, fans will already be aware that Daft Punk have produced the soundtrack for the film and are hence an obvious candidate for a TRON-emulating shoot. The entire feature will be included in Dazed and Confused’s December issue.

Imaginary Foundation “The Undivided Mind” Exhibition

The right side of the brain is responsible for emotions and intuition, the left for logic and reason. Yet the notion of two brains gives rise to the function of one mind. Perhaps it is this one “undivided mind” that presents a way forward through the monumental cultural changes we now face, enabling us to surf this dynamic moment in history from a platform of balance and symmetry. This installation from Imaginary Foundation endeavors to fuse the aesthetic beauty of art and science in order to create a synthesis of mind, one which is as much rational as it is fantastic. In addition, the brand will open a pop-up store for the event, running from November 20th through November 28th, with the show opening Friday, November 19th, 2010. Further information on the show is available here.

Here comes a brand new collaboration between Dr. Dre and Eminem titled "I Need A Doctor". The track serves a response to the doc’s absence from the music industry. Contrary to initial reports, this Alex Da Kid-produced tune could become the first Detox-single whereas "Kush" is supposed to be the street single. A recent interview with the British producer, however, indicates that this track is off the re-release of Eminem’s Recovery. Don’t let it irritate you, just listen below and stay tuned.
