Toshiba Libretto W100 Tablet

O_O
Holy crap this looks badass!

The engineers at Toshiba got a little tired of the iPad hogging the spotlight, so they’re releasing their W100 onto the market. We’re guessing those engineers where the ones who decided to one-up the iPad–literally–by adding another screen. Yep, this thing has two, like a really fast and beautiful and huge Nintendo DS,. Except instead of playing Mr. Twinkle’s Big Adventure Out you get to actually use it for, you know, normal computer things. $TBD

Diesel Analog DZ1326

Be honest – until the time you found out about how much fun women could be plastic ruled your life. You definitely had LEGOs, but you probably also had GI Joe or Ninja Turtles, and guns or baseball bats. The point is, there was always plastic. Diesel wants to take you back to the time when money didn’t matter, responsibilities were non-existent, and you had never heard of Jersey Shore. Strap on the Diesel Analog DZ1326 because it’s the most fun watch you can have without breaking the piggy bank @ $140.

'Scott Pilgrim vs. The World' International Trailer

I don't know about you guys but I was starting to grow weary of old George Michael Bluth (Michael Cera) showing up in every flick Cera is in, except maybe Superbad, but I think I'm really going to like this one; Cera seems to give a bit more range in this. Plus, it just looks like a pretty fun movie.
Check out the International Trailer below and judge for yourself.

'The Green Hornet' Trailer

Man, I remember watching re-runs of the original series back when FX was still in it's early stages; GH would come on right after that day's episode of the 60's era Batman. As with all things old, here come's a relaunch of sorts for this franchise to try to appeal to the new generations. If it's anything like Kevin Smith's comic of the same name, it promises to be good [at least to fans and comic nerds alike]...and Rogan looks good in this, I hope he has the chops (no pun intended) for the action scenes, which look pretty nice.

So far, the only down side...ugh...the corporate machine has decided that this too will be released in 3D. :|

Enough talk, time to watch.

Good Wood NYC

Just wanted to take a moment to let everyone who doesn't know about this one company that I have seen around for a bit but really has caught my attention recently:

Here's a sample of some of the kinds of items they sell:

But don't get it twisted, they also do custom pieces for their customers

Just fill out the
form online and make your submission; just take into account some of the key comments on the page regarding copyrighted images and whatnot. Also, make sure that whatever design you have and want to submit, that you have the right type of file they ask for.

I particularly like the black diamond pendant and even though they're sold out online, there are a couple of stockists down here in Miami, so now the hunt is on...lol.

Wow, this was a much bigger write-up than I thought it would be, so to close it out, here's a video of Kerri O'Connell [head of Good Wood] giving some info on the brand.
Enjoy.

'Community' Clips

Two clips of some of my favorite after-thought moments from NBC's Community:

MTV Movie Awards

Hmmm...where to start?
I remember a time when the Movie Awards were ever so tongue-in-cheek and almost kitschy in it's appeal...but now?!? They treat it like something a bit more serious, which, to me, kinda takes all of the fun out.
There were some relatively fun segments but it looks more and more like MTV is trying to manufacture scandalous/spontaneous moments but it's the truly absurd/unrehearsed moments that make it bearable. I also gotta say I like the choice of Aziz Ansari for host, he's having a hell of a year and kept it funny without having to be heavy-handed like some past hosts.

Oh, and Kristen Stewart...we get it, you're awkward...you like to act all grown up but let's try doing a better job, 'kay?

Now onto what, to me, was the biggest head scratcher of the show, yet all the media has been reporting as such a 'cool' moment...why the fuck was Tom Cruise reprising his role as Les Grossman (I think) from Tropic Thunder??? The movie is from 2008 and had absolutely no relevance to anything going on in this show, plus, anyone who hasn't seen the movie is totally left out of the joke. Nonetheless, if he [and MTV] really wanted to go there and reuse the character, why not make him a bit more relevant to 2010? Maybe a more modern Ludacris song instead of going back to the Tropic Thunder well [and 2003] with 'Stand Up'...then the big reveal of Jennifer Lopez [and a track from 2005] and the dance number didn't help matters too much but didn't hurt either.
I do have to say that the rest of the musical performances were pretty good; and I see that Christina (or X-Tina again??) Aguilera is now a mish-mash of GaGa, Madonna, the 'Dirty' version of herself, the 'Back to Basics' version of herself, and a robot...we'll see how that goes...but I did like a lot of the new records she performed.

Lastly, whoever didn't like Sandy Bullock before, should at least take note of how much of a badass she is for coming up and accepting an award and whilst just slightly addressing the elephant in the room, not giving it a modicum of the attention that the media and the people have given it and being her wonderful and bubbly self. Good on you ma'am! (R.I.P. Sweet Aunt Luddy)

Suffice it to say that there have been better versions of this show in it's past but all in all, this one was still relatively entertaining and not a terrible way to kill a couple of hours on a Sunday...but MTV, you guys need to either try harder or push the envelope better...lol

Anyone who missed it and wants to see what went on can check it out
here.

VITAband bracelet

Just ran across this little article/trinket that I found really interesting and figured I'm geek-out a bit and share...lol:
Athletes no longer need to lug around a wallet full of cards and money while they exercise thanks to a new hi-tech wristband.
Similar to a dog tag or medical bracelet, this new wristband displays an ID number that links to an online database of the wearer’s medical information. Called VITAband, the bracelet is also embedded with a pre-paid “card” that lets runners, cyclists and other fitness enthusiasts make purchases on the go.

Co-developers Jason Brown and David Waxman don’t have a firm date for the commercial release of the product but hope it will be late summer or early fall of this year.

Personal connection

Brown came up with the initial idea for the hi-tech ID bracelet while out for a morning run three years ago. While long, early morning runs are normal for Brown, this one was out of the ordinary in that he was in an unfamiliar place without someone knowing where he was.

“I was probably four or five miles into the run on some twisting roads with blind corners and nearly got clipped by a car,” Brown told TechNewsDaily.

“I would have been out in the middle of nowhere with nobody knowing where I was and potentially pretty badly hurt."

The VITAband was designed with this in mind and it also has the added benefit of being able to make purchases without “shoving dollar bills in your socks or pockets,” Brown said.

ID technology

The medical-profile piece of the new wristband includes a unique ID number, which the developers call a VITAnumber. This number links to a database with a pre-loaded medical profile – your name, emergency contact, ailments, allergies, medications, doctors names, and, if you want, your insurance company.

“It would have been really cool to store the information locally on the bracelet but paramedics and hospitals don’t have a standard format for extracting that information,” Waxman said. There are also security issues, he added.

The purchase-on-the-go piece of the wristband relies on an embedded RFID-chip that links to a specially setup account preloaded with up to $200. To make a purchase, the wearer needs to hold the bracelet within one to two inches of a terminal that accepts this type of payment. (Banking and network partners are handling this end of the product.)

The bracelet will initially sell online before hitting retail stores. After that, the co-developers are exploring form factors other than a bracelet for their technology.

Stylo [Labrinth Remix]

Tinie Tempah strikes again on this badass video game-sounding remix to the Gorillaz's latest offering 'Stylo.'

Check it out and I hope you like it too.

And now a small news break...

So in a little twist, I figured I'd post up something a little bit on the semi-personal side. A very good friend of mine graciously offered me a small investment opportunity in a music festival he has been a very active part in putting together. So I just wanted to give a big 'Thank You' to him.

For all those curious, the name of the event is Sunset Music Festival and it's going down in Miami on July 31st. Come on down and show some love and support.

For all those out there with a Facebook account, check out the Event listing
here...make sure to RSVP as 'attending' if you can/plan on coming out and joining us; and for anyone without a FB account, they have a small blog up which will be getting more updates posted as the event date draws closer.

Spread the word!
